1. 15 minute rule. If an unpleasant task will take less than 15 minutes on your to-do list, set your timer and get started right now.

2. Stop planning and start doing. Don't spend so much time planning what you are going to do that you forget to actually do anything! A plan does not have to be perfect before you begin, you will learn a lot more by doing what needs to be done than planning it.

3. Eliminate distractions. Turn off your TV, radio, computer, phone whatever you find distracting and immerse yourself in the task that needs doing. You will be surprised at how much easier it is to keep working without distractions.

Set a timer and do as much as you can in that given amount of time. Then reward yourself with something quick and small and repeat.

Stick to your priorities. Put numbers next to each job on your to do list to give them a priority order (easy). Now DO NOT DEVIATE from this order (hard).

A to-do list, brainstorming, creating a web, but find a way to gather your thoughts in one place and prioritize from there.

Unless you know what direction you're headed, you'll continue to run around in circles.

Tip 7: Procrastinate on procrastination

Every time you catch yourself procrastinating (or on the verge of doing so), just tell yourself "I'll procrastinate later" and get on with doing whatever you were going to avoid doing.
It doesn't always work but reverse psychology or tricking your mind is a good tool to bear in mind.
